Tiwa Savage may well be Nigeria’s sexiest, most sought after female pop artiste in recent times and there’s no disputing this. But we must be guided being Africans who have ingrained aspects of our existence we can never shove aside.
In April 2016, she had that infamous issue with her ex-husband Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun and it remained a reason for debates across social media and soft sell magazines, leading to several unending speculations.
Thankfully, she picked up from where she stopped like a phoenix from the ashes and here she is today.
Wherever she is as present is a result of the unalloyed support and following from her numerous fans home and abroad, but more specifically her fans from the home front. We must never forget.
Tiwa is a sultry singer and with time we expected modifications in her style. We expected maturity, growth and changes here and there, some of these physical, others musical and so on.
With these changes came marriage and then motherhood, which is perfectly understandable because as Africans; we have that ethos of family, society, togetherness and everything in between.

So with her marriage, even though short-lived, came baby Jamil and we understood. We loved her when she went off to cater to the needs of her little one. We loved her. We understood, because again we are unyielding in our support of her career.
But this is not Hollywood. Tiwa is not playing in the American market yet, she is first a Nigerian music star before she is an artiste under Roc Nation’s management. Let’s get this clear, very important.
Against this backdrop, it is important for our 36-year-old mother of one to realize that as much as we love her in all the ravishing, no-holds-barred outlooks, she needs to adjust accordingly as time and responsibility demand.
You see, it is dangerous to forget ones roots. It is really dangerous.
And one of the strangest things that can happen to anyone is getting to a certain stage in life and forgetting where he came from.
Tiwa is Nigerian, no matter what she does she will never be more western than she is African.
No matter what she does, she will never be sexier than a Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce or a Nicki Minaj for instance.
She is a pure African woman whose music has put her on the global stage.
She is also a winner in the local industry, her renown spreading across the length and breadth of Africa.
The Mavin Records star didn’t get this far on the back of anything other than her music. If stardom was adjudged based on nudity and soft porn; the likes of Afro Candy, Maheeda and Anita Joseph would be the most celebrated figures around these climes.
But of course, this is not supposed to convince Tiwa Savage to be more orderly as far as her dressing is concerned. After all, she is a music star who represents multiple corporate brands.
But while she is at it, it is important to remind her apologists that as time goes on and she stops being as ‘hot’ as she is –the boobs sagging some more and the butt no longer firm– we will all be here and the music will still play, only it mightn’t be as 'melodious' as expected given some of these unfettered sexiness in her fashion and videos vis-à-vis the fact of her being a mother and role model to millions.
