A private university in Nigeria has made a law banning its students from using smartphones within the school compound.

In a new development, students of one of the most prestigious private Nigerian universities, Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), have been asked by the authorities to stop the use of smartphones and other smart gadgets like tablets.

The rule which affects both the old and new students of the school, was not welcomed with open arms by the students and social media users, who have not held back in letting their opinions known.
