Thirty shoemakers from Aba in Abia state have been sent to China to train as professionals. The shoemakers were reportedly sent to Chengdu to train for 30 days at the Chengdu Zaproma shoe company.
It was gathered that the shoemakers were reportedly sent to China to learn the latest skills of shoemaking. They left the country on Tuesday, January 9, and they are expected to come back after 30 days of training.
According to Facebook user Ugochukwu Ezenwa Oon, the shoemakers were sent to China with some government officials to accompany them.
Oon said: “30 Aba shoemakers and some government officials, including Chinenye Nwaogu and Sam Hart at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja today, Tuesday 9th, January 2018, heading for boarding to a direct flight to Chengdu in China where they will be trained at Chengdu Zaproma Shoe Company. Their training will be 30 days.”
It was gathered that Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, shared a word of advice for the shoemakers when they were about to set out. Governor Ikpeazu told the shoemakers to pay attention to what they are taught.
He said: “I’m sending you to China with a lot of confidence. Others will be going after you, don’t block their access. You are our ambassadors in China, be worthy ambassadors and pay attention to your reason of going to China. God will see you through and it will be well with you.”

The Facebook user also shared a post announcing the arrival of the shoemakers in China. He said: “To God be the glory, 30 Aba shoemakers have landed safely in China ...now their assignment begins, they must return with that latest technology in shoemaking...”
