Governor Wike crowns Miss University Africa 2017

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has crowned the winner of the Miss University Africa 2017 at the pageant which was held on Saturday, December 2.

Mauritius’ pageant Lorriane Nadal came out as the winner of Miss University Africa 2017. Somalia’s representative came in as first runner-up and Nigeria’s representative Chinomso Ibinabo came in as second runner-up.

Nadal succeeded Rorisang Molefe of Lesotho as the former Miss University Africa 2017.

The competition was contested by many African countries like Somalia, Nigeria, Eriteria, Tunisia, Gambia, Ethiopia, Sao Tome and Principe, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

According to the lead judge, Sonny Irabor, the judges all approved the list of winners in the competition.

The coordinator of the 5th edition of the pageant held in Port Harcourt, Taylor Nazzal, thanked Africans for making the pageant successful.

Nazzal said: "Rivers State has shown the world that it one of the safest places for conferences and business."

Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, wife of the Rivers state governor who represented the governor at the event.

On her husband’s behalf, Suzzette said: "All the contestants have done well and I consider all of them my daughters. You can come to the state any time you choose.

We will be working together to lift Africa to greater heights. All the queens are very intelligent, warm and domesticated.

NAIJ.com gathered that the pageant was filled with dance by the contestants, rendition of theme song, question and answer for contestants, displace of national costumes and casual wears by each contestant.

Contestants from 54 African countries were said to have arrived in the state on Sunday, November 19.
