- Usman who is especially gifted in summary writing learns using a braille typewriter
A Nigerian lecturer in Ahmadu Bello University has shared the story of a blind student that inspired him.
The blind graduate of mass communication identified simply as Usman is said to be one of the best students to graduate in his set.
According to the lecturer, Usman never permitted his blindness to hold him back in achieving his goals in school.
He urged Nigerians to help uplift Usman and many other geniuses who are unable to reach the limit of their abilities.
NAIJ.com gathered that the genius man graduated from the school with a three point Cumulative Grade Point Average.
The lecturer also noted that Usman is a devout Muslim. He added that the young graduate is in a long distance relationship.
Read what the lecturer wrote about the young man below:
"This is my student, now a graduate of Mass Communication, ABU, Zaria. He is blind by sight but can see by his writings. Usman is wonderfully blessed when it comes to summary writing. He uses brail typewriter and can give you five pages of information within a single paragraph. While his mates battle with lower grades, Usman is a 3 pointer by CGPA. He knows all his lecturers and friends by their voices and he never begs for marks, he earn them.
In fact, the day I gave it up to his blessed brain was in my Media Criticism and Analysis #MCOM405 class. While his peers were trembling to use Critical thinking in order to analyse media products, Usman's voice came to life, its echo dictating the attention of the whole lecture theatre. Usman has the brain, he has the humour, the diction and the right perspective. To the allure of his peers, Usman answered his question and even gave some background information to the question directed at him.
What more, Usman is a core human and peaceful Nigerian. Though a devout Muslim, his best friend right from year one is Silas, a devout Christian. They are always together that in many instances, I always discuss their friendship with my senior colleague, Dr. Ibrahim Jimoh we always use them as example of how humans should relate with each other.

On a lighter mode, Usman is also having a "long distance relationship" though he refused to tell me the lady involved and how far she is from him.
The crux is this: will Nigeria uplift Usman and his likes to their full potential or will it abandon them to their struggle? Usman should be helped to be the best he can be."
