Some students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Osun state have made history by winning the Spirit of the Competition Award at the fourth International Negotiation Competition in Delhi, India.
Sunday, September 10 became a day to be remembered after the students of the prestigious Nigerian university took home the award at the competition that was graced by participants from over fifty universities across the world.
The International Negotiation Competition (INC) was organized by the National Law University (NLU) in association with a prestigious international law firm identified as Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF). HSF has its headquarters in the United Kingdom.
The students from OAU had the opportunity of meeting participants divided into teams. They came majorly from schools like Princeton, Oxford University, Rhodes University, Kings College in London and twenty eight other universities.
OAU was represented by three law students identified as Great Oyiki, Oyewale Faith Bamise and OJ Ayansola. The school’s team was able to take home the Spirit of the Competition award. Interestingly, the university would be the first Nigerian university to participate at the INC.
Mr M.A Lateef, the team advisor for the OAU team was excited with the extraordinary performance of the team members.
"I could not have wished for any better team at this time. We are all proud of you guys. We are all proud going back home highly spirited, energised and better enlightened in this aspect of knowledge."
The award taken home symbolizes the team with the highest approximates when it comes to negotiation spirit and diversity.
