- A Nigerian man from Kebbi has become a source of inspiration for many
- He makes a living by roasting corn and selling some of his farm produce
A Nigerian man identified as Basiru has become the talk of the town after people got to know what he does for a living and how he goes about roasting corn to make ends meet.
The young man’s inspirational story was published on Facebook by Humans of Abuja. There, Basiru who hails from Kebbi state spoke about the things he does to make ends meet and survive against the odds.
As a farmer, he sells most of his farm produce to people around. When the time comes for corn to be harvested, he does the needful and goes as far as roasting some of it.
Despite being discouraged by many people who think roasting corn is for the women, Basiru has not given up on this as he does not mind enduring the scorn in order to make it big. He does not share the belief that some occupations are restricted to a particular gender.

Basiru also sells pears by the side; he buys the pears from the market and add them to the corn he roasts in order to satisfy his customers.
The business has been profitable so far as the young man said he has built a small house from the proceedings made from the business even though he started three years ago.
