The Akwa Ibom state police command has just arrested a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member at the Nsit Atai local government area.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu disclosed that the fake corps member, Justice Orlu, was arrested following intelligence reports by officers in the camp.
Ikechukwu also disclosed that Orlu confessed after he was interrogated by police officers.
He said: “Based on intelligence received by our policemen at the orientation camp, Officers swung into action and arrested one Mr Justice Orlu Ordu and indigene of Ikwere in Rivers, in Monday Uko’s Hostel in the orientation camp. On interrogation, Ordu admitted being a fake corps member who forged NYSC call-up letter claiming to have graduated from University of Uyo, from the Department of Architecture. He will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.”

Following Orlu’s arrest, the commissioner of police in Akwa Ibom, Zubairu Muazu, has assured members of the public that the command had put in place an intelligence-led policing in efforts to reduce crime.
