Over the years Christians have made use of their own local currencies to pay offerings and tithes in their various churches and there has been no complains.
Such is not the case with this Anglican chaplain for Uganda’s parliament, Reverend Canon Christine Shimanya, who has urged all her church members to pay their offerings in foreign currencies.
According to The Ugandan, Shimanya was reported to have advised her church members not use local shillings but dollars and pounds to pay for offertory in the church.
In a sermon on Sunday, July 9, at Namugongo Martyrs Church, Kampala the clergy woman allegedly said that: “Some Christians have dollars and pounds earned from international conferences; instead they change the money to shillings before bringing it to church as offertory. Bring those dollars and pounds, God needs them.”
