Woman slaps co-tenant to death in Benue state

There was confusion in Madikpo area of Makurdi in Benue state when a woman slapped her co-tenant who is also a nursing mother to death.

Reports were that the victim Monica got into a fight with Sewuese over confectioneries their kids were eating and playing with.

It was reported that Sewuese's brother and Monica had had a disagreement prior to this time on a Friday. He was said to have allegedly slapped the deceased prompting prolonged quarrel.

The quarrel was reportedly settled when other tenants and neighbours intervened.

A witness said the quarrel spilled over to Saturday when the ‘sweet’ the deceased bought for her little baby was allegedly taken from the baby by Sewuese’s kid.

Sources said when the deceased heard the cry of her baby she rushed in to ask when Sewuese accosted her. Sewuese allegedly slapped the victim who collapsed and died instantly.

But when contacted the state police public relations officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu, said the matter had not been reported to him. Yamu, however, promised to release details to our correspondent when he received the report.
