A 53-year-old man, Lekwauwa Mark Otaka, who was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja a few hours before its closure, has confessed that he inserted 386 grammes of hard substance in his backside.
Otaka who is a shoe merchant revealed that he was promised N1 million to transfer the hard substance to Cambodia. He was arrested alongside a 57-year-0ld man, Odogwu Austine Ike, on Wednesday, March 8.
He disclosed that he ingested the substance because he was afraid of swallowing it. He said: “I was afraid of swallowing the substance so I chose the insertion method. I inserted 386 grammes of the substance into my backside in my desperation to get N1 million promised. “
The commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Hamisu Lawan, while confirming the arrest said the duo tested positive for narcotic ingestion.

He said: “Odogwu Augustine Ike was caught with 110 wraps of hard substance weighing 2.150kg from Tanzania on an Ethiopian Airline flight, while Otaka was found to have inserted seven wraps of hard substance weighing 386 grammes into his backside on an Egypt Airline flight to Cambodia. Both suspects are currently under investigation.”
Chairman of NDLEA, Muhammad Abdallah, assured that strict screening in other to prevent illicit movement of narcotics by cartels.
