Man who swallowed 40 KNIVES rushed to hospital in agony (photos/video)

Recently doctors from India removed 40 knives from the stomach of a man during a difficult and long surgery.
The operation lasted for five long hours and it took the surgeons days to plan everything, because any small mistake could easily cost the patient his life.
The patient was a 42 year old father of two that had an addiction to swallowing metal, which included knives both folded and unfolded. Some of the knives he swallowed were 17cm long!
"He had a wild urge to consume metal. Even for us, the experienced surgeons, it was frightening," the doctor recalled.
He adds: "We were so nervous... a small mistake could have taken the patient's life. In my 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like it."

Malhotra believes the patient has a very rare mental disorder that most likely has not been published in any international medical journal.
The patient is currently under the continuous supervision of the hospital's in-house psychiatric team and will soon be visited by independent mental health experts, doctors said.
The man commented: "I don't know why I used to swallow knives. I just enjoyed its taste and I was addicted ... how people get addicted to alcohol and other things, my situation was similar."
The patient noted that he enjoyed the taste of metal, especially that of blades.
"I will never do such acts ever again. I'm a new person now," the patient said after the operation.
The doctor advised him if he ever feels like eating metal again to try and suppress the urge by eating spinach.
