A soldier of the Nigerian Army is currently in trouble after beating a man to death due to 'road rage'.
According to reports from Punchng, a 25-year-old commercial motorcyclist identified as Abu Alhaji was beaten to death by a soldier somewhere in Shomolu, Lagos.
Abu who was the father of a 6-month-old child had reportedly encountered Taiwo (the soldier) when he took a woman to an eatery in Morroco, Shomolu. Abu had been waiting to take his passenger back to where he picked her up from, when Taiwo who was coming out from a nearby beer parlour reportedly hit his motorcycle with his car.

According to an eyewitness identified as Bolaji Oke, Abu's passenger hit the body of Taiwo's car to alert him to the fact that he had hit Abu's motorcycle. This is what transpired below:
“The soldier came out of his car and slapped the motorcycle rider repeatedly. As the rider tried to explain to him what actually happened, he descended on him with blows and beat him up.
The soldier beat the rider until he could not stand on his feet; and he left in his car. He said nothing would happen if he died. The case was reported at the barracks and the victim was taken to the Military Hospital in Yaba, where he died.”
The incident has been reported at the Alade police station, while Taiwo is said to be in detention in the army barracks.
Meanwhile, the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lt. Njoka Irabor, has confirmed that investigations are currently ongoing.
The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, also confirmed the story, stating that the police is currently working with the army to ensure that Taiwo is brought to justice.
